Our team
Meet our teamThe team behind the "Innovation Lab on Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis" of the UPV is a multidisciplinary team with extensive experience in the study of the concepts of Eco-innovation, Sustainability, Circular Economy, Industrial Symbiosis and Social Innovation, as well as the practical application and transfer of these concepts to various sectors such as the Tourism Industry, the Automotive Industry or the Ceramic Industry.
This research work has resulted in developing indicators and proposals for eco-innovative, sustainable methodologies, processes and results that pursue implementing concepts related to the Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis.
All of this is both at the micro and macro level, to influence the competitiveness of companies and improve efficiency in the value chain of these sectors, as well as to understand better the mechanisms and relationships that are established, the benefits, facilitators and barriers, in decision-making by companies towards a more sustainable and more collaborative future, as well as a more competitive one.
The multidisciplinary team that initially promotes this initiative will be led by the professors in Business Organisation Ángel Peiró Signes and Mª del Val Segarra Oña, who have focused their research career in the fields of the study of clusters or industrial districts, eco-innovation and social innovation, as well as their application to different industrial sectors, such as tourism, the automotive industry or the ceramics industry.
These last ones are strategically important for the Valencian Community and are concentrated in clusters in the three Valencian provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante. In the research carried out within the framework of different research and transfer projects, the group's promoters collaborated intensively with the rest of the research group members.
We have a leading team in their respective areas of research, with experience in the transfer of results and collaboration with companies, with the capacity to promote and encourage interdisciplinary research involving the different research areas in issues related to the Circular Economy and Eco-innovation, thus enabling the implementation of ambitious R&D&I projects.
